The two girls with the highest scores will both advance to the Miss Florida USA pageant in 2009. They will both be given the same prize packages. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd runners up Will be awarded to the girls with the 3rd, 4th and 5th highest scores respectively

Areas of Competition

Interview:

Consist of two portions: Panel and On-Stage Question

  1. Panel:

    Before the pageant a panel interview will take place in the mansion. Interviews will last between 2-3 minutes. Contestants will need to prepare a 30-60 second introduction for the interview. Interview outfits are up to you, you may either wear a traditional interview suit, your sundress that you will wear in the opening number or an outfit that fits your personality.

  2. On-Stage Question - Opening Number:

    Sundresses are to be worn in the opening number. The opening number will be rehearsed the day of the pageant and at the workshop. Contestants will be joined on-stage with the emcee who will ask an onstage question. Contestants will be judged on poise, charm, self-confidence, their ability to communicate, and the substance of their answers.

Swimwear:

Judges will be focusing on beauty, figure/physical fitness, and the confidence with which each contestant carries herself. Conservative 1 or 2 piece swimsuits are allowed. For this segment, contestants are advised to wear taupe or clear sandals, pumps, or heels.

Evening Wear:

Contestants are judged on overall appearance, self-confidence, and sense of style, as well as stage presence and posture. Gowns should be floor-length, and shoes of your choice may be worn.

Audience Ticket Information

All Cypress Gardens park guest may attend the pageant at no additional cost. For guest arriving prior to 3:00, admission costs to Cypress Gardens are:
Adults (10-59) $39.95
Seniors (60+) $34.95
Children (3-9) $34.95

For guest arriving after 3:00 p.m. special ½ day pageant admission costs are $20.00 for adults, seniors and children. Be sure to check-in at the pageant registration table at the front gate to receive your pageant discount. There will be general seating in the theater. The park will be open until 8:00 p.m.

 

Tentative Schedule of Pageant Day
  • 10-12:30 p.m. Interviews
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch
  • 1:30-3:30 p.m. Pageant rehearsal
  • 3:30-6:00 p.m. Primping time - this is your time to get ready for the pageant.
  • 6:00 p.m. Pageant starts - The order of competition will be:
    • Opening number: On-Stage question - in sundress
    • Swimwear
    • Evening Wear
  • 8:00 p.m. Reception: Directly after the pageant Cypress Gardens is holding a reception in the magnolia mansion to honor all of the contestants and the pageant sponsors. The event will be dressy you may wear your evening gown.


Obligations of Contestants

Due August 1, 2008
Along with your completed entry form, you will also need to submit a copy of your birth certificate, a head shot or close-up photo for the program book and your $350.00 sponsor fee. The sponsor fee includes your entry fee for the pageant and a full page ad in the program book. If you have any trouble finding sponsor a please contact the pageant coordinator for more information.

Orientation and Pageant Workshop

An optional orientation and workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 6th in the Royal Palm Theater from 4-6 p.m. Topics covered include wardrobe (evening wear and swimsuit), opening number and choreography. Bring any questions you may have. For admission to the theater, be at Human Resources between 3:30-3:45 p.m. on Helena Rd. Contestants will be escorted to the theater.

The Best Western is offering hotel rooms for a special pageant rate at $82.00. Make sure to mention Miss Cypress Gardens when making reservations to receive your pageant discount.
